Making Music Fun!

Laying the Foundation for a Lifetime of Music

Why Choose Kids' Music Playground?

Kids will play keyboard by ear, learn to read four octaves of notes, add chords to melodies, recognize intervals, and compose. They will know how to count, play in ensembles, learn some guitar, STOMP, and recorder their final year, and will want to continue after all the fun we have had…

Best of all the course is sure to teach your child the fundamentals of music education while capturing your child’s love and interest in music! Classes are available to 4-5 year olds and 6-7 year olds.

About the Owner

In 1971,  "I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing" was a hit jingle sung by the Hilltop Singers for the Coca Cola company. In the fifth grade, Cheri requested a copy from the company and was quickly playing it on the piano. "I'd like to teach the world to sing" was to become Cheri Roggow's lifetime goal. By age 14 she was teaching her peers piano, and at age 17 she was the accompanist for the Greater Chicago Youth Chorale on a tour of Europe. After obtaining her BME at University of Northern Colorado, children became Cheri's best instructors. In 1995 she began teaching in the group setting, in 2000 started a music school in Colorado Springs, and in 2004 Cheri wrote her own curriculum that includes over 60 original songs.

Roggow has been a regional speaker for the Pikes Peak Music Teachers National Association, and a presenter for CAEYC at their Denver convention while continuing to operate her local school.  Cheri Roggow lives in Colorado Springs with her husband Lowell, and has three children.

"I'd like to teach the world to sing" gives Kids’ Music Playground a sizable goal.  Children around the world need the joy and opportunity musical training can bring. KMP envisions bringing the gift of music to those children by partnering with preschools in laying the foundation for a lifetime of music

About KMP

Kids’ Music Playground began in Cheri Roggow’s basement in September of 2000 with 25 students.  By 2003, the school was averaging 200 students, which led to a move into commercial space near Northgate. KMP moved to North Springs Alliance Church near Chapel Hills Mall in the fall of 2008.  The curriculum is copyrighted and uses original songs, stories, rhyme and even character qualities to bring music to life in a young child’s world.  KMP has served thousands of families and has had over 600 graduates.  Many students are in Children’s Chorale, Youth Symphony, bands and orchestras, and continue to take private lessons.

Kids at KMP will sing, play keyboard, have extensive ear training and learn to read 4 octaves of notes.  Our students can read rhythms, intervals, and compose. They will learn to count, play in ensembles, and be introduced to guitar and recorder.  Our goal is that kids at KMP will want to continue their music well after graduation.  The course is sure to teach your child the fundamentals of music while capturing your child’s love and interest in music!

Classes are available for 4-5 year olds and 6-7 year olds.
